I worked at the food store at 1420 Tamm from 1956 to September of 1958 when I went into the Navy. The store was known as Fuse's Market and was owned by Charles and Mary Fuse who lived over on south Kingshighway across from Tower Grove Park. Their daughter Dorothy also worked there at the time. I got the job when Bob Loesch went into the Navy with John Hummert.
The job was a real neighborhood plum, especially since I had been working at Soulard Market every Saturday. I had to catch the first east bound Oakland Ave. bus, which must have passed Childress Ave at 5:00 am.
Dorothy still lives in St. Louis, I will try to locate her to help with the dates.

I worked at 1420 Tamm at Hoecheckers's Market in 1965, I drove the delivery station wagon. The store was owned by Vie and Ed Hoechecker. I was eventually fired when Pat Liston drove a huge Desoto he rolled down Nashville Avenue into the back of the station wagon while I was inside making a delivery! I just got to the drove in time to witness the crash. We pushed the Desoto away and I claimed it was a hit and run! Ed didn't believe me and he canned me. Denny Wilbers took over my job and worked there with Mike Miano from the neighborhood. I am not sure how long Ed and Vie owned the store.
