"If you look at the pictures carefully, the one is almost like the one on your web page although the car is a later model in our pic. The car looks like a 1932 Ford Victoria. We now have one of these, so that is why we recognized it. This means that Joe Angeli did have the business at least as late as 1932."
The building is at the southeast corner of Graham and Clayton Ave. While it says "Rooms and Tourists" at the top, to the best of my knowledge it was not used for that purpose by the time Joe Angeli had it. Rather, the hotel section was for the 1904 World's Fair. There really weren't too many tourists coming to Dogtown after the Fair.
Given the Falstaff sign on the fence and the building it seems likely Joe Angeli ran this business after Prohibition. However, it is not necessary since Falstaff did have a "near-beer" during Prohibition.
Peggy Angeli who sent me these photos writes:
"Left to right it is Great Grandpa Angeli, Joe Angeli's father, the
cook, the waitress, Grandma Angeli, the painter, and Grandpa Joe Angeli. It also said the White House where Grandpa and Grandma Angeli had their business and their house. It said 1924, so am wondering when they took over this restaurant."
