- 1860 -- St. James opened as a mission of St. Malachy's Parish.
- 1860 -- Father John O'Sullivan, first pastor of the mission.
- 1860, June 11 -- Henry Gratiot donated property to the church for a church.
- 1861, Jan. 1. -- Dedication of first church, built by Richard Tobin.
- 1861-1866 -- Father Michael Welby, pastor of St. James.
- 1867 January 1, - 1869, May -- St. James was once again a mission of St. Malachy's.
- 1869 - 1870 -- Father Thomas Manning, pastor of St. James.
- 1870 - 1878 -- Father Henry Kelly, pastor of St. James.
- 1871 -- First rectory built.
- 1878 - 1884 -- Father Thomas Ambrose Butler, pastor of St. James.
- 1884 - 1896 -- Father Patrick J. McNamee, pastor of St. James.
- 1891, April -- First church burned.
- 1891 -- Second church built.
- 1896 - 1916 -- Father Edmond A. Casey, pastor of St. James.
- 1886 -- Old rectory built.
- 1902, Oct. 26. Cornerstone laid for St. James School.
- 1904, Feb. 16. -- St. James founds the first Holy Name Society in St. Louis.
- 1919 -- Second church gutted by fire.
- 1928 -- Present (2003) church was built.
- 1937 -- Publication of P.J. O'Connor's book: HISTORY OF
CHELTENHAM AND ST. JAMES PARISH
- 1940, January 14 -- Dedication of the convent on Tamm Ave.
- 1949 -- Currently existing convent was built.
- 1949, Dec. 4. Cornerstone laid for first half of the current school.
- 1950 Current rectory built.
- 1951 -- Old rectory was torn down to make way for school.
