Attached are a couple of the photos we took this past Saturday when touring Dewey School. The principal was very gracious and let my brother and me roam the halls, unsupervised :-)
As you can see, the old drinking fountains are still installed in selected locations. The fountains in the photo were located outside the old cafeteria.
The original bench for detention was still in the hall.
The place really hasn't changed very much in terms of structure. The railings and banisters have been painted-over many times and the original wood floors are now petrified wax. Also, drop ceilings have been installed in many areas which reduces the original feel of spaciousness. The individual classrooms have been frozen in time with blackboards, erasers, coat room, and other things unchanged.
