Income from Membership Dues was $250.00.

GENERAL BUSINESS

  1. Speakers Series Committee – Sally Sharamitaro announced a change to the April date of the next Speakers Series on the Forest Park Highlands. The new date is Sunday, May 16, 7:00 p.m., in the St. James Cafeteria.

  2. Membership Dues – Although Henry Herbst did not attend the meeting, sent a membership dues report. We have a total of 80 paid members; 20 new and 60 renewals.

  3. Century Home Committee -- Bob Corbett reported that there are presently 360 certified homes. He displayed a distinctive plaque with a DHS logo that will be used to identify century homes. The tile company will supply written instructions on how to mount the plaque, or if the homeowners request it, the company will install the plaque for a fee. Jim Glaser will be the first to mount the plaque on his century home. (Since this meeting, Bob Corbett has put pictures of Jim’s house with the installed plaque on the Dogtown Web Site.)

  4. Civil War Days in Cheltenham -- John Corbett said that he will meet with Father Johnson regarding participation of the reenactment actors in the Mass on October 10.

  5. Donations – Bob Corbett passed out copies of Letters from Dogtown, a collection of Dogtown memories during World War II, to those who paid for them. He has mailed the remaining books to the other people who requested them. This book has been purchased for the DHS archives.

Bob has taken the 1916 baseball shirt to the Dogtown Frame Shop to be mounted. He also suggested that memorabilia, such as that donated by Marion Herbst, also be preserved and be available for DHS functions. Bob related that this would encourage those who see the collectibles to donate those that they have at home.
