MINUTES OF THE DOGTOWN HISTORICAL SOCIETY

June 8, 2002

The meeting of the Dogtown Historical Society (DHS) was held on June 8, 2002 at the home of John Corbett, 6414 West Park Ave.

The meeting came to order at 10:05AM with the following present: Nina Bryans, John Corbett, Kay Richard, Jim Glaser, Sally Sharamitaro, Henry Herbst, Virginia Lopez, and Lavergne McVoy Lee.

TREASURER REPORT

Jim Glaser deposited $1520.00 in the Lindell Bank. A check for $5 00.00 was given to Ed Cody for IRS 501 fee. Jim Glaser also wrote a check for $10.00 to Missouri Ststa and for $153.25 to Lindell Bank for checks,depositslips and other necessary things to open the account. Leaving a balance of $856.75.

Henry Herbst noted a correction to be made in the minutes of May 11th regarding identifying homes in the area. It should have been indentifying homes more than 100 years not 150. Correction made.

OLD BUSINESS
  1. 501C3

    Ed Cody was not able to attend the meeting for personal reasons,but he sent a report. He stated that Nina Bryans and Virginia Lopez had stopped by his office and signed the application .He will send in the formal application with the supporting documemtation as soon as he gets the TaxEIN number.

  2. HOMECOMING

    John Corbett reported that Bob Corbett had a booth inside St. James School with pictures of the graduating classes from 1904 to the present time. John had a booth outside and disstributed a bbrochure describing Dogtown Historical Society and its pprojects. The booth was getting a lot of attention,and he received eight new members on Friday night.

  3. MEMBERSHIP

    Nina asked Henry Herbst to take the lead on membership, which is $10.00 a year. Henry made a motion to have the fiscal year run from July 2002 through June 2003; Kay Richard seconded the motion; and the motion passed. It was also agreed that those who gave the firsf $1500.00 will be charter members.

  4. LIVING HISTORY

    Nina and John will take the lead to interview Dogtown Seniors. The Board discussed people who possibly could be interview. They included the Duggan Family, John Columbo, Julie Columbo, and Marion Herbst.

  5. REVIEW of PROJECTS

    Henry Herbst compiled a list of DHS projects,which was read to the board. Lisa Wade will meet with Nina Bryans, John and Bob Corbett, and Henry Herbst to discuss diplays in store windows. Henry Herbst suggested we expand our membership with a quarterly news letter and ads from people who give us ssspace.

NEW BUSINESS


  1. We will have a booth at St James School Centennial on September 7th. It was discussed to have a float in the St. Pat’s Parade.

Next meeting will be held on July 13th, 1:00 PM at John Corbett’s home 6314 West Park Avenue
