Dogtown -- earliest usage of the name?

EARLIEST IN-PRINT USE OF THE NAME "DOGTOWN" I HAVE FOUND

LET'S GO  Vol. IV, Number 12. December, 1928. p. 11 in "Uncle Henry's Letter."

The  "Let's Go" (Series One)  was a group of parish bulletins for St. James Church for the seven years spanning 1925 to 1931. One of the columns, written by Ed Pierce who lived at 1223 Childress (my parents purchased that house in 1940), was a humor column. Piece was teasing about a variety show some of the parish members were putting on an said: "Jerry Gesell put on a very amusing act called "dog-town justice," in nine parts, and just to show how clever he is, he played all nine of em."

It's quite clear from the context of the column and the show, that this was a spoof on neighborhood ways and people.

The next earliest usage I know is from 1937. In P.J. O'Connor's History of Cheltenham .... he says: "'Dog Town' was so called by squatters who built shacks in the neighborhood of Graham and West Park after they were evicted from Forest Park in 1876." p. 12.

I'm still looking for any earlier uses. Do YOU know one?
