Savages Will Have Canine Feast When They Are Taken from Cuartel

SIX 18-INCH POTS ORDERED.

Dexter, Mo., Man Sympathizes With Head-Hunters and Offers to Ship 200 Dogs to St. Louis.

A requisition was issued by the Philippine commissioners at the World's Fair yesterday for the purchase of six 18-inch pots. In these pots will be cooked for the Igorrote table the choicest delicacy of the Luzon market — dog.

The men who are presiding over the destinies of the Philippine colony at the Exposition stated yesterday that the Igorrotes should have dog meat. They want it and, as they were promised that they should have everything that their hearts and stomachs desired, once they were in St. Louis, it is up to the World's Fair Board to fulfill its pledge.

The Igorrote method for roasting isn't a most inviting spectacle, so the officials decided to purchase six large pots in which the canine should be prepared for the table.

The first dog-bake will take place when the Igorrotes are taken from the Cuartel to their own camps on the Philippine Reservation. This will postpone the feast for at least a week.

The commission has investigated the law, also the complaint of the St. Louis Humane Society. As to the former, it has been discovered that the Philippine Reservation is several hundred feet outside the limits of the city of St. Louis. Therefore the city ordinance relative to cruelty to animals cannot be enforced in Igorrote territory.

The St. Louis County officials have shown no inclination to deprive the Igorrotes of their feast, so that the minds of the Fair officials are resting easy.
