Mrs. Hefele has a beautiful coin purse from
the World's Fair. It is only about 2 inches square, of a lovely heavy
cloth, and two postage-stamp sized brass inserts with scenes from the fair.
Inside are about 4 tiny pockets and in one of them she found this
class list which she assumes is the list of the graduation class of Gratiot
School for 1904, since the purse is from the Fair.
The article says:
The graduating exercises of the Gratiot choo1 took place
Friday morning. The gladuates are listed below.
I went to the 1900 census and found 9 of the students and they were born between 1893-1895 which would have made them between 13-15 in 1904. I think that is fairly conclusive evidence that this is, indeed, the class of 1904.
