ST. JAMES "OLD SCHOOL" 1906 - 1962

2 photos of the old school

Special thanks to Kay Dowling for this loan of this first photo.

This is the best and oldest photo of the "old" St. James School which I currently have. I do not know the date. The clothes on the chilren suggest the teens or early 20s. The school itself was built in 1906. From 1906 to 1928 the school and church shared a space.

The "old" church was built in 1888 but suffered some damage before the school opened, and the school became the church until the current church opened in 1928.

There are other photos of the school, but this is the best one I currently have (2005).

I cut this photo of the school out of a larger photo of the church, so it is poor quality. This looks toward the front of the school, and is only the far southern wing. One can see toward the back the room that was off the cafeteria on the lower floor.
