FOREST PARK GOLF COURSE
First two nine hole courses opened by September 2003
First course: Hawthorne. Second course: Dogwood
Some notes on this diagram:
- THE BOLD BLACK LINE: That the street that comes in off the corner of
Forsythe and Skinker.
- So the first four holes of the newly opened are on the south side of Lagoon Drive.
- Dogwood # 1 is the old # 5 on the old 18. # 2 is the old #6 and # 3 is the old
# 15 and # 4 is the old # 16.
- I think you can follow the rest of the course and the other course as well.
- I then counted up. For those of you who know the old 18 hole course, after the closed holes are removed
( # 1, 2, 3, 4 -- across Art Hill) and 17 (across Grand Basin)
then take away the three holes used for the new Dogwood course (# 5, 6, 15 and 16) and that leaves:
7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12 - 13 - 14.
Notice that is only 8 holes left over and they are building a second 9 hole course.
However, I think I know the solution. Those of you who knew the old # 9 (long long hole along Skinker
Blvd.) will know it was the longest par 5 hole of any course in the state of Missouri.
I believe the solution is they have made that old 9th hole into TWO HOLES.
If that is the case, then the new third 9 hole course will begin with the old
9th tee, right at the corner of Skinker and Forsyth, and the final green, then end of the nine would be
the green of the old 8th hole, right next to that new first tee.
More on the two courses that are now open:
Recall from an earlier note, there are FOUR tees on each hole, so the course
plays very differently in distance depending on the tee one would use.
The tees are:
- black tee -- longest distance.
- yellow tee
- blue tee
- silver tee -- shortest distance.
