Just wanted to let those that couldn't join us today know that it was warm but not hot for today's walk in 'your backyard'. The four of us, Bob, Bill and Gerry and myself, enjoyed our leisurely walk and lunch very much. Just wish more of you could have been there too.

We walked in some areas that I hadn't seen in a long, long time, and also in an area of the park that I don't think I have ever ever seen.

We saw some of the great new renovations that have already been made and it was fun and exciting being there while other renovations are still in progress. If you can't take a walk like we did, think about taking a slow drive through the park some day and see for yourself what they have done to your 'backyard'.

We had lunch at the golf course club house and after waiting a bit (slight mix up in which waiter was assigned to us - but we were in no hurry) we enjoyed our meals inside and then went outside to sit and visit while enjoying the weather and also to watch the golfers on the newly finished golf holes around the club house.

What a lovely day in the park! Bob said he will let the weather decide our next planned 'Walk in the Backyard', I just know that after today, the Millers and I are happy that Bob is feeling so well, that the second knee is doing so well, and we are all looking forward to joining Bob on his next walk.

Hope you can join us!

Bob Corbett adds:

As Sally indicated the four of us who went yesterday had a great time.

We first walked the wetlands area from Steinberg Skating Rink, then crossed over to the new stream area just northeast of the opera. After this 40 minute walk we drove down to the new club house near Skinker and Forsythe and had lunch.

The dinning room is quite lovely, but all four of us found it very noisy. It was quite crowded, at least 60 or more diners and not a golfer among them. We speculated that a number of them must be from near-by Washington U.

The food was decent and of modest price. It was chilly inside and all of us wished we had chosen to sit outside on that lovely day.

However, after lunch we did walk out to the upper veranda (there are two) and just sat and talked. We had a wonderful time and it was just lovely.

The veranda was quiet, comfortable seats, lovely view of the putting green and the green and approach fairway of one long hole -- saw some nice approach shots and some less nice ones too. :) We sat on that cool and breezy afternoon for a long time just gabbing.

It was a simply marvelous late morning and afternoon.

We are thinking of our next walk -- as soon as the weather people at least promise a cooler day -- to be a meeting up by the Art Museum where we can inspect this new observation platform around the statue of St. Louis, and then to walk down the south side of art hill, over the new bridge and work out way over to the boat house for lunch, having left one car there for a return shuttle to our cars.

I'll watch the weather and send out an invitation to our second walk/lunch in our new and beautiful backyard.
