BOB CORBETT'S FOREST PARK JOURNALS

Dogtowners make it back to Forest Park

Biking tip for the day: When riding in heavily wooded areas (such as the Kennedy Forest in southwest Forest Park) do not ride with your mouth open. In such woods there are many tiny flying things. None yet tested are particularly tasty. Yet they seem draw to passing cavities.

I was out early riding today, then off to the Central West End for coffee, and then back to ride in the park again. Two former Dogtowners, Bill Vorbeck and Jerry McLaughlin, had planned an 11 AM meeting at the restaurant of the new golf clubhouse and had invited me

I have not been very successful in luring many of you back to visit the park, so I was happy with this news, and rode that way home. We all arrived about the same time and I sat with them just a few minutes. Both were having a light lunch of a bowl of califlower soup (special of the day) and coffee.

I headed home, stopping at Dogtown's awesome grocery/deli, Gwinner's (corner of Art Hill and Clayton) and got a hot pork sandwich for lunch and a lovely ribeye steak to grill for dinner with some luscious looking home grown tomatoes.

I find the meat a Gwinner's to be much superior to the chain grocery where I usually shop, and also $2.00 to $3.00 LESS FOR EACH POUND. Great place to buy meat. And such good barbaque every day.....

Now, if I just remember to keep my mouth shut when riding in the woods.
