Dorothy (Malone) Nollau adds a bit of color to the photo with these comments in a note she sent with the photo (which she donated to our archives:

My dad was very much into sports... My dad played handball on Forest Park courts and was very good. He also played softball and bowling. He was a 'leftie.' He and my mom played tennis every week and took my brother and me along. He traveled to Jeff City with a football team to play the inmates. I loved telling people my dad went to jail! He was a national commissioner for the Municiple Athletic Association, and their softball commissioner for many years.... On fall Sundays he made the rounds to soccer games in many parks and I tagged along. When we arrived home at dinner time we were blue from the cold. Dad got a short of whiskey and I got hot chocolate!

Thanks to Dorothy for the great note!
