St. James and First District teams entered soccer's inner court with coveted championships today. At Fairground Park yesterday, St. James defeated St. John, 1-0, for the C. Y. C. junior title. Meanwhile, the First District club triumphed over the Twelfth District squad, 1-0, for the police juvenile I championship at Carondelet Park.
In the other contest at Fairground Park, with the intermediate crown of the Municipal Soccer Association hanging in the balance, Schumacher's No. 2 team and Blessed Sacrament battled to a 1-1 I tie.
Mickey Mayor, leading goal-kicker in the league this season, heaped additional laurels upon his sturdy shoulders when he booted the winning goal for St. James in the final minute of play in the second overtime period.
Gino Pariana, center halfback of the First District eleven, shot the lone goal in the first half that gave his team a triumph over Twelfth District.
