SPECIAL THANKS TO THOSE BELOW FOR THEIR HELP
Many folks have helped me. I want to give a special thanks to some of you who
have provided much needed materials or information or leads.
- Boman, Joe. Joe was very generous
in lending me for a significant amount of time, the 1925-1932 copies of Let's Go. His
mother had one of the extremely rare complete sets (minus only one issue) of this work.
He hadn't seen me in nearly 50 years, but within a hour of my phone call, I had the three
volumes with the admonition to take good care of them, but not to hurry at all. I very
much appreciated his trust and willingness to share.
- Brady, Maureen. Maureen's help
has been indespensible. She lined up many meetings, made telephone calls, returned them, found materials,
and used her good name and many friends to help further this project.
- Corbett, John. My brother, John, got me rolling when he donated
his copy of P.J. O'Connor's "Cheltenham..." book to light my fires. But his enthusiasm and moral support
have been and continue to be of great help. Thanks, little brother!
- Schmidt Louis. Louis did an incredible amount of research and
ground work on early Cheltenham and related neighborhoods. When I contacted him just days before he was
moving out of Dogtown after living here for more than 65 years, he not only made time for me in the midst
of moving, but loaned me documents galore to xerox, and gave me a computer disc with essays and lots of
other material. Much of this material will eventually make its way to this web site. It is impossible to
measure the impact of Louis' work and research and his kindness in sharing it so generously with me.
It not only has saved me several years of work, but it's impossible for me to ever know how many of his leads
and discoveries I may never have made at all. To Louis I have to say: hats off. You've done
incredible work and your generous sharing of it is inspiring.
