I know the UN is frequently accused of being dominated by the US, but even
though its headquarters are in NY, there's quite  a difference and
shouldn't be confused.

Please note that UNDP stands for United NATIONS Development Programme.  The
US has its own development agency, the USAID (agency for international
development).
