jesse helms is trying to have the young cuban boy, who lost his mom at
sea, naturalized as an american citizen.

every time i bring up the haiti/cuba refugee issue in conversation i'm
always reminded that haitian's are economic refugees and cubans are
political refugees...lets think about this for a few seconds...

the great outpouring of thousands of refugees after the ninety-one coup
that left thousands dead....sounds political to me...

the o.a.s observers came to haiti in august of ninety-two....for
economic observation?...i don't think so...

the o.a.s observers high-tailing it to the dominican border....for
economic reasons?....i don't think so....

president clinton announcing a week or so before the invasion that
haiti had the worst tyrants in the hemisphere...economic tyrants?...i
don't think so....

20,000 troops invading haiti...for economic reasons?....i don't think
so..(unless you live in miami)..

top u.s. policy objectives for haiti: police, justice reform and
elections...is that just more economics?

a dozen or two of the new police recruits being killed right off the
bat...economic intimidation?

suspension of economic aid to haiti...for political reasons or economic
reasons?

zenglendoes, insecurity, attacks at political rallies....more economics
as usual?

voting offices attacked...political or economic?...

can't attract foreign investment...because of the economic or the
political environment?

granted the lousy politics leads to lousy economics, but whats the
bottom line?...where is johnny cochran?
