         no, not selective memory....priests and pastors did become
makoute, altho more hougan were involved, simply because they had more
influence among the peasants in the countryside and papa doc wanted the
poor folk "on his side" 

my comment was made in that i find it somewhat disingenuous for someone
to attempt painting a picture that hougan/mambos are somehow "pure" and
not tempted by the base things of human nature.....

at the same time, i would say the same in regards the "purity" of
missionaries....i have known too many that dont qualify for "purity" or
"holiness".....
