Haitians held after Sunny Isles landing

Nine Haitian men came ashore in Sunny Isles Beach early Sunday and were
turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol, police said. The men were picked
up by Sunny Isles Police on the beach near 175th Street at about 3:45
a.m. A 23-foot pleasure craft was found nearby. U.S. Border Patrol
agents collected the men from the Sunny Isles police station at about
4:30 a.m. All of the men appeared to be in good condition and showed no
signs of prolonged exposure to the elements, Supervisory Border Agent
Mike McClarnon said. ``We got nine different stories about how long
they had been out there,'' McClarnon said. ``They were all giving
conflicting stories.''
