>From the newsroom of the BBC World Service

The Secretary General of the Organisation of American States, Cesar
Gaviria, has repeated concern over irregularities in last month's
elections in Haiti.Mr Gaviria said the results had been miscalculated
and did not follow the Haitian constitution. He said it was vital the
count accurately reflected the will of the Haitian people. On Tuesday,
the electoral authorities announced the party of the former president,
Jean-Bertrand Aristide, had won roughly a third of seats in the Chamber
of Deputies. The rest will be decided in a run-off vote, which has now
been postponed indefinitely. After a day of violent protests by Mr
Aristide's followers on Monday, the electoral council announced that his
party had won a sweeping victory in the Senate.
