UN documentary on Haiti wins award at New York film festival
19 January - A new United Nations video documentary on Haiti will be awarded
the Finalist medal at the New York International Film Festival this evening,
a UN spokesman announced today.
Titled "A Work in Progress: Human Rights in Haiti," the 56-minute film is a
blend of paintings and footage, which take viewers through the history of
the Haitian people. It was produced by Isabelle Abric and Simone Di Bagno
for the UN Mission in Haiti, and is available in English, French and Creole.
In addition to tonight's award, the video has won the silver plaque at the
Chicago International Film Festival and the Gold Award at a festival on
world media in Hamburg, Germany. It has also been included in the permanent
collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Broadcast
and Communications in Chicago.
The award-winning documentary is available for viewing through the UN video
library at the Organization's Headquarters in New York.
