Kidnappers abduct U.S. businessman

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti -- Kidnappers abducted an American businessman in
front of his house Thursday, police said, the
latest in a recent series of crimes that have left two U.S. citizens dead.

Marc Ashton was attacked at his mansion on Canape Vert Road as he was
returning home in the early afternoon.

At least five men were waiting for him in an all-terrain vehicle and a
pickup truck. They blocked Ashton's vehicle, hustled him
into theirs and then removed the license plates from the businessman's
vehicle.
