It's a good idea to begin a discussion with a recitation of the facts, and
then move on to interpreting them. Senator Rosny Mondestin's essay pretends
to do this, but clearly his "Interpretation of Facts" (Section 3) actually
begins with his so-called "Factual Review" (Section 2). The florid language
makes the recitation of "facts" impossible to take seriously. Phrases like
"Lavalas fanatics" and "honeyed declaration on dialogue and peace" are red
flags that the writer is first and foremost a propagandist. I actually read
the whole thing, but all I learned is what the world looks like through the
Senator's passion. I can't trust any of it.

If it's hard to know what to believe these days, Senator Mondestin's
rhetoric is part of the problem, not part of the solution.
