OAS Assistant Secretary General Luigi Einaudi to Discuss
Recent Mission to Haiti at International Republican Institute



News Advisory:

The International Republican Institute (IRI) will host an open
discussion with Ambassador Luigi Einaudi, Assistant Secretary
General, Organization of American States, Friday, May 25, 2001,
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.. The discussion will be held at IRI's 9th
floor offices, 1212 New York Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C.

Ambassador Einaudi will discuss the recent joint OAS-Caricom
mission to Haiti and the status of negotiations between the
government of Haiti and the democratic political opposition.

The discussion is open to the media. All remarks will be on the
record.

The International Republican Institute is a non-profit
organization that, with funding from the National Endowment for
Democracy and the U.S. Agency for International Development, advances
democracy throughout the world by sponsoring programs that promote
peaceful democratic transitions and the development of democratic
institutions in countries around the world.
