9372: Re: 9362, 9348, Haitians writing about Haiti (fwd)

From: Tttnhm@aol.com

Anyone eager to read Haitians writing about Haiti could find just what they
are looking for in my "A Haiti Anthology: Libète", edited with Michael Dash,
published in 1999. Over half of the 180-plus extracts are written by Haitians
or Haitian-Americans, some of them translated for the first time from Creole
and French.

'A Haiti Anthology: Libète', edited by Charles Arthur and Michael Dash, mixes
contributions from anthropologists, historians, and novelists. It is arranged
thematically, with ten chapters covering a wide range of historical and
contemporary issues. Each chapter contains an introductory essay, extracts
from differing authors, and full bibliographical information. There are
extracts from such authors as Dantes Bellegarde, René Depestre, Félix
Morisseau-Leroy,
Michel-Rolph Trouillot, Jean Métellus, Marc Romulus, Madeleine Sylvain
Bouchereau, Laënnec Hurbon, Jean Price Mars, Georges Anglade, Suzy Castor,
Michel Laguerre, Roger Gaillard, Charlemagne Péralte, Arnold Antonin, Alex
Dupuy, Jean-Claude Martineau, Jacques Roumain, and Marie Chauvet.
