9434: Screening of video "Expelled" on expulsion of Haitians from Domin ican Republic (fwd)

On Tuesday, November 6, 2001 at 6:30pm, the Human Rights Clinic Project at
Columbia University Law School and the National Coalition for Haitian Rights
(NCHR) will host a screening of "Expelled", a short documentary depicting
the tragedy of the mass expulsions of Haitians from the Dominican Republic,
produced in cooperation with Witness.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Michele Wucker,
author of Why the Cocks Fight: Dominicans, Haitians, and the Struggle for
Hispañola and Arturo Carrillo, Lecturer in Law at Columbia Law School,
moderated by Merrie Archer from NCHR. The panel will focus on the current
situation of Haitian migrants in the Dominican Republic and the Columbia
Human Rights Clinic's current case against the Dominican Republic before the
Inter-American Commission and Court of Human Rights.

Haitian food, music, and drinks will be served. Donations are requested to
go toward providing food, shelter, and medical care for the Clinic's five
client families in Haiti.
