My take from the many messages addressing the question of growing more food
is that growing the food is not the problem.  The problem seems to lie in
the infrastructure involved in getting the food to market in saleable
condition and selling it at a profit given the relatively low cost of
imported comestibles.  A possible solution is to use family lands to grow a
variety of foods for subsistence of the extended family and for
barter/distribution within the area not impeded by infrastructure
constraints.
