The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center
and A.C.T.I.O.N. Foundation,( a non-profit organization promoting Haitian
Art and Culture)
proudly announce:
Haiti: From a Legacy Of Freedom To An Explosion Of Culture.
A month full of cultural events that celebrates Haitian Art and Culture.
Dec. 1: Grand Inauguration at the Broward Main Library (6th Floor) Time:
6:00 p.m.
Featuring:
An Opening ceremony
A major Art Exhibition
This art show will display more than forty art pieces including
sculptures by the celebrated Haitian artist IRIS.
The theme is
Memories and Expectations: A Path to Spirituality.
Music will be performed by the famous Haitian musical group: AYABONMBE
Cocktail reception
A taste of Haitian cuisine.
Dec. 7: The virtuoso Haitian pianist Micheline Laudun-Denis at the
auditorium of Broward Main Library. Program will include music
by classic and Haitian composers.
Time: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.(auditorium 1st floor)
Dec. 8: Book Talk with internationally acclaimed authors:
Edwidge Danticat and Dany Laferriere on the theme:
Haiti: An Endless Source Of Literary Inspiration.
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm (auditorium 1st Floor)
Dec. 14: Movie projection of La Peur D'Aimer. Haitian Actor-producer
Reginald Lubin will present the film. Time: 7- 9pm
Auditoriun 1st floor
Dec. 15: Discussion Forum:
Haitian Identity and Integration to the AmericanSociety.
Guest speakers : Dr. Jean- Pierre Bayard
Mr. Max Beauvoir, biochemist/Hougan,
State Rep. District 108 Philipe Brutus,
Mr. Gerard Latortue economist,
Dr. Michel-Rolph Trouillot,
author,historian/educator.

Dec. 21: Movie : LUMUMBA by Haitian movie Producer Raoul Peck.
Closing ceremony (auditorium 1st Floor)
