PRESIDENT ARISTIDE CONDEMNS RECENT VIOLENCE DURING COMMEMORATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Commemorating the International Day of Human Rights President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and First Lady Mildred Aristide viewed an exhibit today at the Izmery Memorial Park which is part of Visitation House in the Delmas section of the capital. The exhibit, a large mural composed of various paintings each illuminating the essence of each of the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, was prepared for today’s celebration.

One this important day, which is also one day before the funeral of Brignol Lindor, President Aristide used this occasion to once again strongly condemn the violence surrounding the two incidents last week in Petit Goave that left Duverger Joseph Cius in critical condition and resulted in the death of Brignol Lindor.

Today’s remarks add to his other various statements this past week in which President Aristide condemned violence, reaffirmed his commitment to human rights, and in particular to the rights of all journalists, and called upon all Haitians to live in peace.
