a316: Re: a316; The oldest biography of Toussaint Louverture????? 1802 French version offered. Corbett comments
From: Edward Baptist <eebaptist@yahoo.com>
Dear Bob Corbett: Here is an older biography of
Toussiant Louverture, of which the University of
Miami's Special Collections (which has an excellent
colletcion of rare books relating to Haiti, as well as
other Caribbean islands) holds a copy. This is a very
unfriendly biography, highly pro-Bonaparte, but a
biography all the same. Below is a copy of the
catalog entry, although some characters with accents
did not translate well (hence the ? marks).

Corbett adds: Okay, perhaps I own THE OLDEST PRO-TOUSSAINT biography,
even if it is primarily postive to suite Great Britain's immediate
political needs!!!! :) Hey, history happens this way!!
