Dear Colleagues,

	On March 1, 2002, the Trinity College Haiti Program, in conjunction with the National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians (NOAH), will hold a symposium on Haiti at Trinity College, Washington D.C.  The symposium, which will run from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM is entitled Economic Development in Haiti: Investment, International Assistance and Governance.  We are delighted to invite you to join us for this event, which will consist of four panels and a luncheon with a guest speaker.  Registration will open at 8:30 AM. The day's schedule will conclude with a reception commencing at 5:15 PM.

	The first panel, "Haitian-American Investment in Haiti: Prospects, Needs, Obstacles," will feature three leading Haitian-American businessmen.  On the second panel, "Investment Programs and Strategies: Views from Haiti and the Dominican Republic," four speakers representing investment groups or individual investors will speak.  We will then break for a buffet-style lunch and a guest speaker who will address the topic, "Organization, Governance, and Achieving Success."  The third panel, "International Assistance: A Status Report," will feature presentations by speakers representing multi-lateral and bilateral international assistance agencies who will address issues related to the current status of assistance to Haiti.  Concluding the formal program is the fourth panel "Stimulating Investment: Public Policies, Programs and Problems,"   featuring three Government Ministers and one member of the legislature of the Government of Haiti.

	Confirmed speakers include Marc Bazin, Stanley Theard, Lesly Voltaire, Dumas Simeus, Edwidge Armand, Michael Gay, Ramon Martinez Aponte, Fed Beliard, and Gilbert Leger.

	Attendance at this on-the-record symposium on Haiti is by invitation only.  Particularly since space is limited, your RSVP as soon as possible, and certainly no later than February 27, is essential.
