A little while back we were discussing the "rice scandal" in Haiti. The case
itself is another interesting example of how the rich and powerful with
interests in Haiti continually manipulate the press.

The three families who have built their fortunes on importing rice into
Haiti are the following:

Wawa
Nadal
Aped

Olivier Nadal was the Haitian partner in the Rice Corporation of Haiti(refer
back to my earlier post concerning RCH and Early Corporation). As for the
so-called scandal Mr. Nadal and friends made so much of, people in that
neighborhood reported that the rioting was actually in response to catching
a group of policemen who were stealing rice from the program. This version
of the story was submitted by a reporter of a major news agency only to have
his editors cut it out.

The truth is that the price of rice has fallen from $28 US to $18 US per
sack since the rice sales and distribution program was initiated by the
Aristide Foundation. This translates into more families being able to better
feed themselves as conditions of poverty worsen due to the de facto embargo
imposed on behalf of the Covergence. As usual the truth was twisted and
pretzeled until it was barely recognizable. These folks are professional
liars with a tremendous amount of resources and many well-placed friends
suckling at their tits.
