I have read only today Mr. Pena's post about Family Monopoly &Rice Scandal
in Haiti and I must say that I am very surprised by its content .Since the
Corbett List is a moderate list, I will not answer to Mr.Pina the way I
should do to defend the honorability and respectability of my name and my
family, but I will not forget.
Now, for the Corbetters, please note that my family's company: Les
Entreprises Commerciales Joseph Nadal S.A was founded in 1927.The last 75
years we have sold many products on the haitian market, but we have never
bought or sold one bag of rice on the haitian market. Our company has never
been involved in the rice business. I have never been a partner in the Rice
Corporation, and I do not even know the people running this company.
I am now living in the United States with my family since March 2000, where
I have filed for political asylum after having been threatened to death by
the Lavalas government, mostly because I have challenged them in organising
a Rally for Peace and Democracy on May 28, 1999 with the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry of Haiti along with 48 organisations and associations of the
Haitian Civil Society on the Champ de Mars public place. It is important to
mention that this Rally was the first of its kind in Haitian history. The
Lavalas were very mad at us and send their Chimeres to disrupt the Rally,
sending rocks and bottles filled of urine while the haitian police was
watching , their arms crossed and never intervene to protect the Haitian
Civil society.
Before living Haiti in exile, I was General Manager of NADALSA and was in
charge of running a shipping line agency.
Our company represents in Haiti Hapag Lloyd and Zim Line and many other Us
and European companies.
I would advise Mr. Pina to verify his sources before writing.
