Dear David--If you haven't ever been to Marmelade you will probably be
pleasantly surprised by what you see there... it's a fertile, green valley
at a
fairly high altitude, extremely well watered by about a half-dozen
sources,
I've heard... When I was there in 1995 I was told by local peasant coop
members
that Marmelade produces enough food of all sorts to feed itself... and it
could
feed a lot more people too if it had agronomists there to consult with the
people, an all-weather road out to the highway (about 12 km, I think it
was),
and some financial infrastructure... It's a splendid place and I would
have
