site of InSpirit Brands - a drinks marketing company in the UK. I am
particularly interested in the claim that this brand orginates in Haiti.
If anyone knows more about this product, such as who in Haiti produces it or
the ingredients, and where, please let me know.

TOUSSAINT IS a coffee liqueur originating in Haiti and named after the black
slave hero, Toussaint L'Ouverture. If you find Tia Maria or Kahlua too sweet
for your taste, but you're after an after-dinner coffee liqueur, Toussaint
(about pounds 14.95, Waitrose, Harrods, Selfridges) is the espresso of the
genre. Drink it neat with ice as a wind-down cocktail or add lime or rum for
cocktails. The Napoleon Noir, a blend of one-third cognac or brandy to
two-thirds Toussaint, is a sado-masochistic blend which both comforts and
bites back. Alternatively, revive flagging dinner- party conversation by
adding a shot of Toussaint to your coffee, or drizzle a tablespoonful of
double cream on top of Toussaint for the ultimate in decadent, warming Irish
coffee.

TOUSSAINT
This 26.6% "dry" coffee liqueur, which is the basis for the "Black Monday
Martini" created for the Tatler in Claridge's cocktail bar, is rapidly
becoming a cult ingredient for bars nationwide.
As an exciting new brand, Toussaint is making a big impression on a static
section of the liqueur market. Originating from Haiti, the brand is named
after General Toussaint L'Ouverture, who led his countrymen to freedom from
French colonial rule in 1804.
Toussaint is created from selected natural tropical ingredients, first and
foremost, coffee, with a hint of cocoa, vanilla, liquorice, steeped in fine
spirits to reach 26.5% ABV for flavour and strength, then sweetened
naturally.
To enable the customer to taste the coffee, Toussaint uses less sugar than
competing brands, allowing the flavour to really come through. Toussaint is
best enjoyed straight, on the rocks, in coffee, or as a versatile ingredient
for various shooters and cocktails.
COCKTAIL AND SHOOTER SUGGESTIONS
1. Napoleon Noir - 2 shots Toussaint Coffee Liqueur
1 shot cognac
Glass - Brandy balloon
Method - Stir together - ice optional.
2. Absolut Stimulant - 1 shot Absolut
1 shot Toussaint Coffee Liqueur
1 shot Espresso
Glass - Martini or large espresso cup
Method - Shake vigorously over ice and strain.
