a1596: Re: a1585: OAS SPECIAL MISSION TO HAITI PRESENTS "GREAT OPPORTUNITY" (fwd)
FROM: Kevin Pina <kpinbox@hotmail.com>
RE: The Organization of American States(OAS)and their "great opportunity" in
Haiti.
The handmaiden of US foreign policy, who first precipitated the "political
crisis" and did irreparable damage to Haiti's political environment, is now
well placed to provide a "special" solution. There has never been a single
instance where the OAS has not supported and wholeheartedly backed US
foreign policy initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The concept of democracy has never been a priority for the OAS with its
backing of the coup against Guatemala's democratically elected Jacobo Arbenz
in 1953, backing for the Dominican Republic's military coup against the
democratically elected government of Juan Bosch in 1965, and finally the
destruction of the democratic government of Chile's Salvador Allende in
1973. Afterall, the OAS was a creation of Mr. Nelson Rockerfeller, supported
by the USG, for their incursion into the internal political affairs of
Brazil and Venezuela for control of the oil supply in the region.
One need look no further than the historical irony found in the statements
made by the OAS representative of El Savador's Arena Party concerning Haiti.
What right does she have to lecture anyone on democracy given that she is
currently in her position by virtue of the death of more than 80,000
Salvadorans. They were murdered in the name of Ronald Reagan's pursuit of
"democratic values" in Latin America, which was also enthusiatically backed
by the OAS.
History is a wonderful thing in the larger scope of time, it may be
obfuscated for a short time but in the end the truth is there if you have
the courage to seek it out.
