By now it should be obvious to everyone that the Bush administration has no
interest in helping Haiti.  The ongoing evaluation of what the OAS can
accomplish etc. is really a moot point.  Those that down play the US role in
Haiti or any other country are out of touch with the world.

As Jack Nelson Pallmeyer pointed out in his interview with Haiti Progres,
issues of poverty can not be addressed without redirecting economic
resources to meet the needs of the majority.  All of Bill Gates charity is
just a band aid when the underlying economic structure (U.S.controlled) is
unjust.  We can all choose to feel good about whatever small part we play in
easing the suffering but it will never be enough until self determination
becomes an acceptable reality to the powers that be (read U.S.A.).
