Union Square in NY on May 8th children will gather at the
Gandhi Statue --Bwy and 14th St. at 4pm. They will then
march east on 14th to 3rd and north on 3rd Ave. to 47th.

A Rally including children and entertainment by young people.

Haitian Rights Coalition Urges Unity to March for Children’s Rights

In Haiti 200 million kids lose their rights to be kids, they suffer unspeakable physically, sexual and psychological abuse.  Many are put to domestic work at tender ages working for food and shelter in the most horrible conditions. Heavy work loads are packed into 12 to 18 hour days. Severe punishment, and harsh emotional, psychological and sexual abuse are part of these children daily survival routine.

In 1990 leaders of Nations came together to take part in the World Summit, one of the most important children events in history until now.  On May 8th, the UN will be hosting the most important children’s event ever.  The world most influential officials and heads of state will meet to decide the level of responsibility the international community has to protecting children around the globe.

While the National Coalition for Haitian Rights (NCHR) applauds this long overdue focus on children’s rights, the movement to ensure that children rights continue to be protected still needs to be a priority, that is why NCHR is calling on each and every community to stand up and march as one.

Promises that were made in the 1990 World Summit were never accomplished and now it is time to not only rectify these errors, but to make sure that the US government finally ratifies the Convention on the Rights of the Children.

In co sponsorship with ATD Fourth World, the Child Labor Coalition-USA, ECPAT, the Global March Against Child Labor, Intercommunity Center for Justice & Peace, Kids Meeting Kids, PEACEWAYS and many more. NCHR would like to extend an invitation to you, your family and your friends to attend the March for Children’s Rights being held on May 8 at 4:00pm at Union Square near the Gandhi Statue, located at Broadway and 14th Street.  The March will be followed by performances for children and a candle vigil in support and in hopes that the World leaders clearly understand that Children Rights must be a priority.

So many children are denied access to their basic right of health care, education, food, shelter, love, and are left emotionally and physically scarred. These are the voices that are never heard. These are the voices we stand up for. Join us and March.
