12533: Radio program in NY on history of U.S. occupations of Haiti. On internet as well.
On Monday, July 15 from 11 am to 12 pm, there will be a special program on
the
history of U.S. military occupations of Haiti on WBAI 99.5 FM in New York.
July
28 marks the 87th anniversary of the first US military intervention in
1915.
Guests will include Alex Dupuy of Wesleyan University, author of "Haiti in
the
New World Order" and Stan Goff, a former U.S. Special Forces soldier who
was
stationed in Ft. Libert during the 1994 U.S. occupation.
The program will have an update on the continuing imprisonment without
charges
of 9 unionists from Guacimal (St. Raphael). Also reviewed will be the
latest
developments in the Jan. 16 police shooting of Georgy Louisgene and the
retrial
of Charles Schwarz, the accused accomplice in the torture of Abner Louima.
Monday's program is part of WBAI's continuing series of special programs
on
Haiti produced by a collective of Haitian grassroots organizations and
individuals, including Rezo Solidarite, Komite Chalo Jaklen, and Hati
Progrs.
