I am exploring  new and existing approaches to care for the elderly in rural
Haiti. I work with a small organization who is currently considering the
establishment of a community group home for seniors living alone and unable
to care for themselves.
One limitation of this model is that the home will only house a small group
-maybe three or four-and very limited resources will be directed to that
rather than  the needs of the elderly community at large.
Being mindful of local culture, existing family and community structures in
southern rural Haiti, are there any list members who might suggest creative
alternatives to a subsidized community group home to address the urgent needs
of this segment of the population.
