They Call Me Dog: A Film About the Cinderellas of Haiti
250,000 children toil in obscurity in private homes as domestic workers in
Haiti. They Call Me Dog is a dramatization of the life of one such child,
Asmithe. Her story reveals the extent to which child domestics are
exploited and illustrates how education provides a ray of hope for these
children. Determined to improve her life, Asmithe begins to attend a
special school for working children, established with support from UNICEF,
and learns to write.
(1995, 26 minutes)
The film also stars Mario Delatour and Lunise Morse.
