12956: stanley honorat re:12925 haiti's political and social climate (fwd)
From: stanley honorat honorat <shonorat@hotmail.com>
in reference to post 12925, i think that the writer used his(gender neutral,
since i don't know the gender of the writer) personal experiences and
generalized them. i have refrained from adding my personal experiences in
posts, but i think i must make an exception since i do not make part of the
"everyone" the writer refers to. for the record, i do have "two functioning
eyes."
i was born (1976), raised, and now live in petion-ville (except for a stint
in exile with my family in the early 80s and a back and forth between 94-98
for university in the united states for university). what i am about to say
is MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. it is not scientific (unless i were to state
otherwise) nor is it intended to represent the views and feelings of
"everyone". the goal of this is to state that the writer of post 12925 made
a generalization where one should not have been made.
i am not aware of a "cedras regime" that was spoken of. i know that mr
cedras was commander of fad'h during that time period, but i also know that
there were 2 different presidents and 3 prime ministers during this
period... please correct me if i am in error. now, since this is an opening
to state personal opinions, i state that, in my experience (and the
experience of the majority of people that i know), this period of time is
worse than any other over the last 25 years. in reference to the comment
about "zenglendos" being ex-fraph and attaches, i wonder how someone can be
so sure of the identities of thieves and bandits. this information should
be useful to the police and i urge you to tell them so that this climate of
violence can be stopped. now, as for the bus rides into town and the fear
involved, you are right about the corporal, but now, they may be afraid of
inept, drug smuggling, politically motivated pnh officers. as for the days
of rape and torture being over. i say that those two things are still here
today, and that if u add kidnapping to it, u have a small view of reality
(for some of us) while mr aristide holds the keys to power. again, this is
just my personal opinion on the situation in haiti and not a remark on
anything else in the post.
ps-in reference to the question of secret societies, i wonder.... if a
society or group is secret in nature, does that not mean that the average
person will not know about it (or else it would no longer be secret)? so
the affirmations that they do not exist seem odd to me, cause whether they
do or not, they will remain secret. i was just wondering... i may be
wrong, since i know nothing of secret societies. if so, please enlighten
me.
