12994: Morse on attacks/families (fwd)
From: OLOFFSONRAM@aol.com
Dear Anonymous,
Thats a puzzling post. The narrative, by refering to Haitians as <you>, makes me assume you're not Haitian, so why would I ask you what family you came from? If you are Haitian you should say <we>. By the way, I don't really know any <families> in Haiti, just a few individuals, so even if I were to ask what family you came from, I wouldn't know how to interperate your answer, socially speaking. The big families wouldn't come to me for business dealings, they're already set up. And, if they did want something from me, the first thing they would tell me would be their family name. <Hi, I'm so and so>. I wouldn't have to ask. Had I grown up in Haiti, perhaps I would have schooled with some of these families, but that's not the case. As for my family, we're all different colors of the rainbow so it's difficult for me to judge people by color, or even economic standings for that matter. Those are issues I had to straighten out during my adolescence.
Using the list to vent frustrations is good. Its better than rocks, guns and tires. It also lets some steam out of the pot. The amount of valuable information that goes out over the list far outweighs the petty stuff. You just have to know what you're looking for. If you're insinuating that I might want to torch your house if I knew your name, you can stop losing sleep over it.
If it was me and I did somehow offend you, I apologize. If its my being educated that somehow offends you,<rich educated muscles>, <you intellectuals>, you'll just have to figure out a way to deal with that issue. I can't nor do I want to uneducate myself. To the contrary, my upbringing taught me to crave and search for knowledge.
I hope this helps.
Anonymously yours,
Richard Morse
