13065: Posted by Arthur: Good things under Lavalas - literacy (fwd)
From: Tttnhm@aol.com
Shame we have not had more responses to Greg Chamberlain's request for a
summary of good things to have happened under the Lavalas Family government
of 2000-2002 - there must be something?
When Aristide was in Petit-Goave recently he reportedly announced that so far
11,841 people in the area had graduated from literacy classes. If this is
true, and if the same sort of numbers have been taught to read and write in
other urban areas, then this is a very significant and laudable achievement.
Let's have more information and facts on this subject.
Was a census recently carried out? If so, who did it? Must have provided a
lot of jobs, no? When are the results going to be published?
I must say this, so many state employees, so many journalists, so many
analysts, so many people on the Corbet list, but so little information
available.......
(still waiting for Olivier Nadal's promised revelations - the nitty gritty -
on Aristide's corruption)
Let's hear it for Justice, Transparency, and Participation, for real.
