13473: Vishnusurf: two questions about the Revolution

From: VISHNUSURF@aol.com
----------------------------------------

On this important question, let us all be reminded that:
Boukman gets all the credit, but Cecile Fatima actually performed the
sacrifice
!
Also, check out Bernard Moitt's Women and Slavery in the French Antilles,
1635-1848 (Indiana UP, 2001)

As for the claim that 1804 was
"the world's most important historical event"?!?!
While it was certainly one of the most momentous and most inspirational,
to
call it "the greatest" seems a bit of a stretch, to say the least? Haiti
would
have gained independence sooner or later, and history actually suggests
that
the country would be better off today had it been later.

It could be convincingly argued that the development of penecillin and a
small
pox vaccine were greater historical events, just to mention a couple of no
brainers, and I think that many Haitians would agree.
