To Liliane Nerette Louis:Missionary reports from the era you mention are to
be found in several places. 1. The Mother House of each of the orders or the
Vatican City headquarters of that order; 2. Several books written by
historian-priests, e.g. Pere Cabon, whose writings are in several university
collegtions in US --check out SUNY-Albany library for many of these; 3. St.
Martial library in Port-au-Prince which is a great treasure trove of books,
ducuments, records and letters from numerous sources ; 3. the library of St.
Louis Gonzague, also in Port-au-Prince which likewise has numerous books and
documents. And don't overlook the papers of Moreau de St. Mery whose
collection in Archives de Outre Mer in Aix-en-Provence is a small library
unto itself.
Keep us informed as you work progresses, as many on this list have an
interest in various aspects of this topic.
