In 1779, a Haitian from St-Marc, Haiti founded Chicago. His name, Jean
Baptiste Pointe Dessables builded a little house near the Lake Michigan ,
near the Illinois River. Many months later, his wife, an Indian princess
joined him with the members of her tribute "Pontiac"  and they named this
place "Shekagou" whih means "savage onion" in their language because in that
area grew up a lot of onions. After years, shekagou became a big city, and
the name changed into Chicago.

Jean Baptiste Pointe Dessables was born at St-Marc, Haiti in 1745 . His
father was a French businessman  and his mother an African slave from Congo
who became an Affranchie. His father studyed in France and they sent Jean
Baptiste to Louisiana, USA for business. He had many children with his
Indian wife and their first baby girl, Suzanne, was the first baby born in
Chicago.
