I hope even those who have called on the name Duvalier are chagrined at this
turn of events. I can't imagine anyone really thinking this is a good idea.
First of all the very name "Duvalier" is synonymous with oppression. The
only reason things were better then is because the despot was bankrolled by
the US whom I guess wasn't as interested in spreading democracy as they are
now (I'm being sarcastic). The country is better without Duvalier because
democracy is better than dictatorship. His time is over. The time for
oligarchy is over. Democracy is now. What everyone should be focused on is
how to transition from oppression to freedom with responsibility. That is a
big leap and obviously Haiti is suffering from growing pains. Social
repsonsibility....consideration for others, these things take time to
develop. Duvalier is not one to begin this process. It is 500 steps
backward. Tell Baby Doc there are no more boats to Port-au-Prince.
