14224: Simidor re: Gunmen in Haiti Attack Widow's House (fwd)

From: Daniel Simidor <karioka9@mail.arczip.com>

The so-called attempt against Michele Montas' life has all the
appearance of a staged event. At least, that's what the evidence
suggests. If the gunmen's mission was to kill Mrs. Montas, what
would be the point of shooting up the gate when she was already
safely inside? The timing of the incident suggests a warning or a
deadly threat: you mess with us, we will kill you. Her
bodyguard's death was either a fluke accident or part of the warning.

So far, the major killings in Haiti have been done by
professionals. It just isn't that difficult to figure out the
when and where to ambush an older bourgeois woman with set habits.
She goes to work in the morning; she visits her ailing mother,
etc. You follow her around a few days, and if your first attempt
doesn't pay off, you don't botch it, a second will.

It goes without saying that regardless of how fast they rushed to
her side, both Lavalas and the "Opposition" would feed Montas to
the dogs, without a pang of conscience, if it would advance their
game. In this case, however, it is a safe bet that if and when
the regime releases its "findings" in the killing of Jean
Dominique, it will be a cover-up, partly or wholly, if not a
disguised attempt to tarnish Dominique's memory. (Jean Dominique
is not a convenient man. He casts a very large shadow, even in
death.) Somebody is possibly telling his widow to keep her mouth
shut, if she wants to live.
